Drug & Alcohol Treatment & Referral
Organizations
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
SAMHSA's mission within the National Health System is to improve
the quality and availability of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation
services
to reduce illness, death, disability and cost to society resulting
from substance abuse and mental illness. SAMHSA also has a comprehensive
drug
treatment facility locator. 

Alateen 
Alateen is an organization that helps young people who are the relatives
and friends of a problem drinker.

Alcoholics Anonymous 
Alcoholics Anonymous is an informal society of recovering alcoholics
in the United States, Canada and other countries. These men and women
meet in local groups, which range in size from a handful in some localities
to many hundreds in larger communities, to help each other recover
from alcoholism.

Covenant House 
Every year, more than 50,000 kids and parents in crisis across the United States and Canada call the Covenant House Nineline, a national, toll-free crisis hotline which operates 24-hours a day. With a database of over 30,000 shelters and organizations, the Covenant House counselors can provide immediate crisis counseling and refer callers to help in their area. In addition, Covenant House has Substance Abuse Programs which offer help to youth addicted to alcohol or drugs.

Girls and Boys Town National Hotline 
The Girls and Boys Town National Hotline is a 24-hour crisis, resource
and referral line. Accredited by the American Association of Suicidology,
the Hotline is staffed by trained counselors who can respond to your
questions every day of the week, 365 days a year.

Narcotics Anonymous 
Narcotics Anonymous is an informal society of recovering drug users.
Members share their successes and challenges in overcoming active addiction
and living drug-free productive lives.

National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) 
NCADD offers a list or organizations in more than 100 cities that will
refer clients to physicians and public and private agencies providing
treatment for alcoholism and other drug dependence.

National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) 
NIDA's mission is to lead the Nation in bringing the power of science
to bear on drug abuse and addiction. This involves conducting and supporting
research on a broad range of disciplines and disseminating the findings
from the research to improve drug abuse and addiction prevention, treatment
and policy.

National Youth Network 
The mission of National
Youth Network is to educate parents of troubled teens on child behavior
including attention deficit disorder, ADD, ADHD, drug abuse, teen depression,
behavior modification or intervention programs such as wilderness programs,
boarding schools, residential treatment and other adolescent programs.
