Born in Pequannock, New Jersey, Derek Jeter always dreamed of the
day he'd be playing for the Yankees."When I was growing
up, my parents and I would go to a school yard and play ball every
weekend," says Jeter in his commercial for the Partnership
for a Drug-Free America. It's no surprise that Derek filmed
an Anti-Drug ad; he established the Turn 2 Foundation , in 1996,
to support activities and programs designed to prevent teenage substance
abuse.
The 6'3, 195 lbs. shortstop is currently earning over $15
million dollars a year for his powerhouse prowess on the field.
Derek led his team to victory in four World Series and has had three
consecutive 200-hit seasons ('98-'02). Blessed with
good looks and a wholesome image, Derek Jeter is the kind of baseball
player, and person, that young athletes aspire to be like.
